THE STORY
On February 19, 2007 (Presidents' Day) Cassy Diehl went into the emergency room with pains in her stomach. Believing this to only be at worst a stomach ulcer, she had no grave concerns. After a many hours, and numerous tests, the doctors had realized that there was something much worse than a stomach ulcer. They informed Cassy that her CAT scans had shown a mass on her ovary and spots on her liver. She was sent to Barnes Jewish Hospital to undergo further tests, and many sleepless nights. It was determined that she had Stage IV Germ Cell Ovarian Cancer that had spread from her Ovary to her Lungs and Liver. For the next 6 months Cassy underwent extensive chemotherapy treaments to destroy the cancer that had overtaken her body. Her prognosis and her attitude were always very positive. On August 15, 2007 Cassy was given the Cancer Free prognosis, but must be contiually monitored for the next five years to be sure the cancer is gone. The work of Heal Our Diehl is supported by contributions made by individuals, companies, and organizations.
