Cassy has recently had to fight off a pnemonia which had infected one of her lungs. Originally the chemotherepy was to be postponed until next monday, but her team off doctors decided to start her second round today because of the aggressiveness of the cancer. She did recieve "GREAT" news, in the words of one of her doctors today that her cancer marker had gone way down. Before the start of her chemo she was at a 3000 (not sure what this means "YET") and was as of today at a 200. This is over a ten fold decrease and an uplifting sign for her future condition and the success of the future treatments. Remember to keep Cassy in your hearts and prayers.

Cassy recieved a round of chemo today that she is to have weekly. She has been feeling very nauseated lately from the last round of her week long chemo, but it is still better than the first time around. She really appreciates everything that people have done for her and hopes that you continue to keep her in your hearts and prayers.

Cassy's tumor on her ovary is shrinking dramatically. Following are the tumor marker cell numbers:
Feb. 21st 2629.6
Mar. 27th 206.4
Apr. 2nd 121.9
Her next count will be Monday April 16th. April 17th Cassy will be admitted for another 5 day round of chemo sessions. Currently she weighs about 95 pounds and is still fighting the nausea. She is managing her pain but has developed sores in her mouth again.

Cassy went back into Barnes today for her 5-day round of chemo. Her urine output is not where it should be so they have not started the five-day chemo yet. They are giving her fluids through her port so her kidneys should be kicking in soon. She is in the room next to her previous one. She is welcoming visitors and her new room number is 4479.
Now for the absolutely fantastic news: Cassy's tumor marker count is 23.6 and 5.0 is normal. The doctor said her treatment is working beyond anyone's expectations. In three weeks they will do another CAT scan and that will tell them the next step of action in regards to the tumor and possible surgery or laparoscopy. Even if the count gets down to normal, the doctor will have Cassy undergo several more of the 5 day chemo sessions to make sure the cancer is completely gone. He wants to play it as safe as possible because if this type of cancer ever returns it is even more aggressive than the first time around. Cassy has made it a goal to attend for at least a short while the fundraising dance at the VFW Saturday night.
Check out the angels on Cassy and my Aunt Kim's door. Thanks for all the prayers and let's keep them coming.

As of last week Cassy's tumor marker was down to 9.9. The doctors at this point are planning on doing onw more 5 day chemo treatment, doing a CT scan and checking the tumor marker. With any luck and a lot of hope that will be then end of the cancer. There is no planned surgery at this point to remove the main mass on the ovary.

Cassy's tumor marker is now in the normal range. She finished her 7th and last round of chemo last week. The doctors are hesitant to do anymore chemo because there is a slight chance that it could cause her to get lukemia. A CT scan is scheduled for August 15th. Her tumor marker will also get checked again on this date. The results of the scan and the tumor marker will determine if surgery is necessary. Her doctors are extremely optimistic that the cancer is gone.

Cassy has been given the Cancer Free prognosis. She must return every three months for the next five years for testing to make sure that the cancer is gone.

After a brief scare from an absess on her right hind leg, Cassy is doing considerably well and starting to grow hair again. The port that was installed in her chest is to remain for the time being, but can be removed without any serious scarring.
